Both Greenpan and Scanpan are examples of modern, healthy cookware brands with eco-conscious manufacturing standards. Scanpan is a Danish artisan cookware manufacturer, while GreenPan has Belgian origins.
Whether you are after a nonstick frying pan or a full cookware set, both of these companies have several models to choose from.
We have done the legwork and created this in-depth comparison so you can make an informed buying decision. Read on to find out our expert recommendations for each cookware category.
Quick decision: If you don't have time to read the in-depth reviews, here are our top picks for each type of cookware:
Greenpan vs Scanpan: Product Lineup
Scanpan offers 5 classic product lines named Classic, Professional, CTX, PROIQ and HAPTIQ, however, not all of these are available in every store.
They also carry a full line of kitchen essentials under the name Brund by Scanpan and a premium line called Maitre'D Collection, featuring stainless steel and copper utensils.
GreenPan has a wide range of ceramic cookware lines from everyday to higher mid-range sets. The collections are named Chatham, Hudson, Lima, Padova, Paris, Rio, Valencia, Venice, Prime Midnight, Levels, SearSmart, and SmartShape.

The Levels line has a stackable construction while SmartShape non stick pans are also designed with space-saving in mind.
Frying Pans
Let's compare some of the nonstick pans from both brands. We will go head-to-head, comparing the same fry pan sizes and picking a winner for each category.
8" Frying Pans
In the 8-inch category, the GreenPan Lima represents a solid option but the ceramic coating always requires more care than other high-quality nonstick surfaces. The Scanpan CTX on the other hand, is an ultra durable 5-ply aluminum-stainless steel pan with Stratanium coating. It does come with a much higher price tag though...

12" Frying Pans
Among the classic 12-inch size frying pans, it's a close call between the GreenPan Paris Pro and the Scanpan Classic. They both offer great performance and are more than capable for preparing a healthy family meal. Still, with the durability advantage, we would buy the Scanpan.

The Most Durable Frying Pans
If you want nothing but the most durable frying pans for your kitchen, this pair of Scanpan HaptIQ pans are hard to beat. The only line to feature the Stratanium Plus coating, the unique surface of these pans provide professional-grade performance.
Cookware Sets
GreenPan has probably the widest selection of healthy ceramic cookware sets of all manufacturers. Scanpan, on the other hand, focuses on durable, high-end nonstick cookware.
Family Cookware Sets
Here, we have pitted the Valencia Pro from GreenPan vs the Scanpan Classic cookware set. Even though the Stratanium coating on the Scanpan still probably has a slight advantage in durability, the Thermolon Minerals Pro surface on the GreenPan set is also very high quality. Considering the price difference in favor of GreenPan, we recommend the Valencia Pro, which is also one of our most recommended ceramic cookware set of all.

Stackable Cookware
If you are after stackable cookware, GreenPan is the only choice. Their Levels line is one of the highest rated space-saving set of pots and pans from any brand.
Scanpan vs Greenpan: Construction, Materials & Coatings
Greenpan Cookware
GreenPan pots and pans are made of strengthened hard-anodized aluminum for durability. The only exception is the Venice Pro line, which is made of stainless steel.

Their diamond-reinforced Thermolon non stick coating is made without any harmful chemicals such as PFOA, PFOS, lead, or cadmium. It is a send derived coating and - according to the manufacturer - doesn't produce any toxic fumes even if overheated.
The Greenpan Paris Pro and Valencia Pro lines feature their highest-grade Thermolon Mineral Pro non stick coating. These ceramic cookware sets are among the healthiest options available.
Scanpan Cookware
Scanpan uses recycled cast aluminum as a base material for their popular Classic and Professional series, while the CTX line is made of stainless steel with an aluminum core.
Their real hallmark is their 5-layer, extra durable Stratanium nonstick coating. Made without PFOA from safe and sustainable materials.
Due to the special interlocking layers, Scanpan claims that it's up to 50% more durable and scratch resistant, making it one of the most durable nonstick cookware on the market.

Greenpan vs Scanpan: Usability
Both the anodized aluminum base of GreenPan and the cast aluminum base of Scanpan products delivers even heat distribution, resulting in good cooking performance.
Due to the superior quality of their nonstick coating, pots and pans from both brands offer great food separation. This means cooking with less oil as well as easier cleaning after use.
The utensils are well constructed and durable. They should last for a long time with proper care. This includes avoiding overheating the pans during the cooking process. This tends to be the main reason ceramic coatings are losing their nonstick capabilities.
Induction compatibility
Both brands offer induction-ready non stick product lines.
GreenPan makes their Valencia Pro and Venice Pro utensils for induction stoves.
Scanpan has the CTX, PRO IQ, and HAPTIQ models in their induction compatible arsenal.
Oven compatibility
Scanpan lists their non stick cookware as oven safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
GreenPan has this number at 425 degrees for their glass lids to 600 degrees Fahrenheit for their pots.
While in theory they can be used in the oven, we only recommend this for the cookware pieces such as dutch ovens and pots, not for the frying pans.
Cleaning
Both manufacturers list their cookware as dishwasher safe. However, we do not recommend putting them in dishwashers as the strongest feature of both brands is their nonstick cooking surface. Ceramic coating and dishwashers are not a good match.
In our opinion, the premium nonstick coating deserves extra care, especially if you intend to use it for a long time. Even though they are both listed capable of withstanding metal utensils, we recommend hand washing with soapy water and non-scratch pads instead.
Warranty
Both GreenPan and Scanpan offers a limited lifetime warranty for their products.
Sizes
GreenPan frying pans are available in 8", 9,5", 10", 11" and 12" sizes.
Scanpan makes 8", 9,5", 10 1/4", 11" and 12 3/4" pans.
Scanpan vs GreenPan: The Verdict
Choosing between GreenPan and Scanpan is not a black and white decision.
Both brands have high manufacturing standards and are among the top cookware companies worldwide. They are healthier alternatives to most competitors.
GreenPan has a wider product selection and offers more budget-friendly lines in addition to their high-end ceramic cookware sets.
Scanpan positions itself as more of an artisan manufacturer and comes at a higher price point. Their focus is on creating stylish and durable cookware.
If money is not an object, we vote for Scanpan due to the exceptional durability of their coating. However, GreenPan products offer just as great value for their price and they are the clear winner in the lower price categories.
GreenPan is also the only choice if you are after cookware with ceramic coating.
