Farberware vs Cuisinart: Construction, Materials & Coatings

Farberware Cookware

Farberware pots and pans are made of aluminum, hard-anodized aluminum or stainless steel with aluminum core for great overall heat distribution.

For cooking surfaces, you can find the classic stainless steel version and several modern nonstick options. Their SmartGlide system features a Dupont Teflon coating with a textured surface for enhanced nonstick properties.

The Millennium nonstick line comes with Dupont Teflon Professional coating with Metal Guard for cooks preferring the use of metal utensils.

The Advantage line is coated with a nonstick material called Power Diamond which offers exceptional durability for a decent price point.

If you go for ceramic, you can choose between CopperSlide – a PFOA-free copper ceramic surface and QuiltSmart – which is manufactured toxin free without PFAS, PFOA, PTFE, lead and cadmium.

Cuisinart Cookware

Cuisinart also uses heavy-gauge and hard anodized aluminum as a base for their nonstick lines and 3-ply stainless steel featuring an aluminum core for the stainless steel lines. They also offer a cast iron selection, including frying pans with nonstick inner coating.

In addition to the stainless steel cooking surface of their 3-Ply lines they use PFOA-free Teflon Platinum for their nonstick pots and pans. Other nonstick lines are coming with Eterna or Quantanium reinforced coatings.

Their ceramic Green Gourmet line features a PFOA, PTFE, lead and cadmium free healthy cooking surface.

The cast iron utensils come with either cast iron, porcelain enamel, or Dupont Platinum interior.

Cuisinart vs Farberware: Usability

The stainless steel lines from both brans feature a 3-ply sandwich structure and perform similarly in terms of durability and cooking performance. Due to the aluminum core, even heat distribution is expected from this classic base construction.

Cuisinart vs Farberware Material

For nonstick sets, both the cold-forged aluminum base of Cuisinart and the aluminum base of Farberware products delivers even heat distribution, resulting in good cooking performance for the lower price points most of these lines are sold for.

Due to their modern nonstick coatings, pots and pans from both brands offer great food separation. Remember, these are not the old Teflon coatings with the bad reputation anymore!

For ceramic pieces, we have found the Cuisinart Green Gourmet pots and pans to perform exceptionally well, but they require extra care to last. This includes avoiding overheating the pans during the cooking process as it tends to be the main reason ceramic coatings are losing their nonstick capabilities.

Induction compatibility

In addition to the stainless steel lines – which can always be used on induction stoves, both manufacturers offer induction-ready non stick product lines as well.

Cuisinart makes their Conical Hard Anodized line for induction stoves. They also have an extensive line of cast iron pans, dutch ovens and casseroles. The CastLite pans feature DuPont Platinum nonstick cooking surface for a rare combination of cast iron with nonstick properties.

Farberware has the Advantage models in their induction compatible arsenal.

Oven compatibility

Cuisinart lists their stainless steel cookware as oven safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, the cast iron pieces can be used up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and the nonstick lines can withstand 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Farberware has this number at 350 degrees for most of their cookware apart from the Millennium stainless steel line which is certified for up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, The Glide Pro and Restaurant Pro lines can be used in temperatures up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cleaning

Both brands list their stainless steel cookware as dishwasher safe which is the industry standard these days.

Cuisinart lists their cast iron models and their fry pans with Eterna nonstick coating as dishwasher safe as well, but the rest of their products – including the Chef’s Classic nonstick and the Green Gourmet ceramic lines are handwash only.

easy to clean stainless steel pot

Faberware lists most of their nonstick lines as dishwasher safe. The exceptions are the Millennium line with the Metal Guard surface and the CopperSlide ceramic nonstick items.

They even market their QuiltSmart ceramic pans as safe, however, we do not recommend putting them in dishwashers as the strongest feature of these pieces is their nonstick cooking surface. Ceramic coating and dishwashers are not a good match.

We think the premium nonstick coating deserves extra care, especially if you wanna use it for a long time.

Warranty

Both Cuisinart and Farberware products are coming with a limited lifetime warranty.

Sizes

Farberware frying pans are available in 8", 9.25", 10", 11.25” and 12.5" sizes.

Cuisinart makes 8", 9", 10", 11”, 12” and 14" pans.

Cuisinart vs Farberware: The Verdict

The choice between Cuisinart and Farberware depends heavily on the type of cookware you are after.
